Disabled ParkingYour rights with regard to the Blue Badge scheme and disabled parking.
The scheme applies only to on street parking. If you display a valid Blue Badge you may park on single or double yellow lines for up to 3 hours in Engalnd and Wales and there is no time limit in Scotland. This does not apply in areas where there is a ban on loading or unloading.(Generally where parking would cause a severe and/or unreasonable obstruction to traffic.) If you display a valid Blue Badge normally you may park at on street parking meters for free and for as long as is needed, exceptions may be in force where there is a traffic sign displaying a time limit. If there is a time limit for Blue Badge holders then you must also display a blue parking disc which should show your time of arrival. Please be aware that the Blue Badge Scheme does not give any rights in relation to off-street car parks, private roads and at most airports. Some private companies who operate car parks may or may not have designated spaces specifically for disabled vehicle owners and the use of theses spaces is not governed by the law or the Blue Badge Scheme although it would be sensible to display a Blue Badge when utilising one of the designated spaces to avoid any confusion.
